February 15, 2013 - Posted by

Sportlyzer mobile apps were recently updated with long-awaited heart rate tracking feature. Sportlyzer iPhone app supports Zephyr HxM™ Smart Heart Rate Sensor and to connect one of these to your app, please follow this guide.

Zephyr HxM Smart Heart Rate Sensor supports following Apple devices: iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod Touch 5th generation (learn more here). You can get a Zephyr HxM Smart from Zephyr’s store. To track your heart rate with Zephyr HxM Smart and Sportlyzer iPhone app, follow these steps and you’re set.

How to connect your Zephyr HxM Smart strap to your iPhone?

1. Put on your Zephyr HR strap. If your skin is very dry, you may need to wet the sensor pads and/or your cheast area to activate the device.

2. Open Sportlyzer App on your iPhone and tap ‘Tracking’.

3. Swipe 2 screens to the right to Tracking settings.

4. Find Heart Rate sensor section and switch it ‘ON’. If your Phone’s Bluetooth is switched off, there will be a popup asking you to turn it on – tap ‘OK’.

5. Tap ‘Sensor status’ and choose ‘ZephyrHxMxxxxxxxxx’ (‘xxxxxxxxx’ means numbers specific to your HxM).

6. Swipe 2 screens left back to the Tracking view.

7. Below the Tracking Dashboard you will see a heart symbol and a notice ‘Calibrate’.

8. When the calibration is completed, ‘Calibrate will be replaced with a notice ‘On’ and you can see your heart rate.

9. Tap Start to record your first workout with heart rate on Sportlyzer mobile app.

(You need to follow these steps only for the first time. Later your phone will remember your HxM and recognize it automatically.)

After tracking

You can find your heart rate data in your mobile app’s workout History. After uploading to web you can see a graphically visualized version of your training at sportlyzer.com.
